Plants are flexible and reconfigure when subjected to wind, thus they encounter lower drag that if they were rigid. However, at high enough flow speeds, flexible structures can undergo flow-induced vibrations. In this video summary of our paper published in Physics of Fluids, we consider the trade-off that flexibility brings, allowing elastic reconfiguration, but potentially leading to flow-induced vibrations.
