Multimaterial Additive Manufacturing of Self-healing Composites via Thermal Remending
Our research project aims to develop the world’s first fully 3D-printed self-healing composite, composed of various multimaterial printed components. This innovative composite will demonstrate repeatable healing capabilities under various loadings, including low-velocity impact. By integrating fiber-reinforced thermoplastic with electrically conductive multifunctional materials, we seek to achieve heating, healing, and potentially sensing of cracks, paving the way for advanced, durable, and sustainable materials in engineering applications.
